Dry Suit Specialty Course
At Herodiver, we are the first to offer every diver the opportunity to complete a Dry Suit course without the requirement of purchasing a suit for the training. Our decision to offer dry suits for rent is rooted in our community vision and the desire to make this specialized equipment accessible to all divers—enabling you to dive in any season and any weather.
In Israel, a perception has taken hold that a dry suit is "technical" gear, complex to use, and relevant only for veteran, experienced divers. When we visited Japan, we discovered the exact opposite—due to cold water temperatures, the initial certification courses (Open Water) are often integrated with a dry suit specialty. The suit provides divers with the ability to dive comfortably in low temperatures, and mastering the suit actually makes them more skilled divers from their very first day underwater.
A dry suit functions as a buoyancy device; therefore, certification is mandatory to learn how to use it correctly. The course consists of two dives and can be completed in a single day . Until now, to get certified in Israel, you were required to buy a suit and bring it to the course. We are changing the rules of the game—you can now rent a suit, complete the course, and make an informed decision before purchasing one for yourself.
The Dry Suit Course Includes:
The course features a classroom session where we will cover the physics and physiology of heat loss in water , a comparison between wet suits and dry suits , and detailed lessons on dry suit construction, including various types of seals and valves . We will also discuss different types of undergarments , diving techniques, proper weighting, and buoyancy control , along with safety procedures, handling underwater emergencies , and essential principles of maintenance, storage, and repair . Additionally, the training includes two dives during which we will practice mastering dry suit control and buoyancy and managing various emergency scenarios .
Our rental suits are available for the course at the Li-Yam Club in Mikhmoret, conducted in small groups for maximum personal attention. The rental cost is 600 NIS. If you decide to purchase a HERODIVER dry suit within one month of completing the course, the rental fee will be deducted from the price of the suit.
